Social commentator Darren McGarvey will be in his native Glasgow with his new BBC Scotland show Addictions, as he explores Scotland's relationship with different addictions.
Next week he will be delving into the relationship our nation has with alcohol, and exactly why Scotland is the most addicted country in Europe to various vices.
The week after, on May 17, the episode will see Darren spend time in Glasgow to further his search for the reasoning why Scotland has a dangerous affair with the likes of alcohol, smoking and drugs.

Darren will also be releasing a book titled 'The Social Distance Between Us: How Remote Politics Wrecked Britain' this month.
Over the course of the three-part series, McGarvey delves into the causes of addiction, the science behind it, and the very human cost, travelling across the country talking to both experts and people who have suffered directly in their own lives.
He goes on the front line, joining a hectic Friday night shift with the ambulance service as they attend life-threatening overdoses and drug-induced seizures in Glasgow.
And he talks to patients at a Liver Unit in Dumfries who are facing a terminal diagnosis as a result of their alcohol dependency.

For Orwell Prize-winner McGarvey, the series is very much a personal mission to foster greater understanding, given his own history with addiction.
“Addiction is one of the biggest issues that we face, and given my level of experience, personally and also in the community, I recognise I’m in a position to shine a light on it in a way that hasn’t been done yet.”
The emphasis in the first episode is on the country’s problematic and historically unhealthy relationship with alcohol, while the controversially high level of drug deaths and addiction in Scotland is the focus of the second episode.
Behavioural addictions such as food, gambling and sex are examined in the third part.
The first part of this series will be made available on Tuesday, May 10 at 10pm on BBC Scotland, with Glasgow featuring on May 17 at 10pm.
