Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis has warned that new UK sanctions targeting Israeli settlements in the West Bank risk fuelling antisemitism and increasing concerns about the safety of British Jews.
The warning followed Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband's announcement in the House of Commons of restrictions on trade in goods with Israeli settlements the UK considers illegal, tougher controls on weapons exports linked to the occupation and sanctions against individuals and companies involved in settlement development, including the proposed E1 development.
