The stakes have been raised in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 thanks to a shocking development in episode 4. Before we get any further, though, consider this your official spoiler warning – turn back now if you haven't seen the episode and don't want to know what happens!
Well, if you're still here, you'll know that Bullseye's latest target was none other than New York's First Lady, Vanessa Fisk. After disrupting Mayor Fisk's boxing match, the sharpshooter took aim at Kingpin with a souvenir model skyscraper. Although Fisk succeeded in knocking it away with his championship belt, the model shattered and a fragment hit Vanessa in the head.
One thing that's left a little unclear, though, is whether or not Vanessa is still alive.
"So... Vanessa is actually dead?" said one fan on Reddit. "They actually fucking did it? Would respect the hell out of the show if it committed to this twist and didn't just chicken out, Marvel-style."
"She's not dead. Likely going to be in a Vegetative State," argued another. "Because Matt and Kingpin are often paralleled, something is probably going to happen to Karen as well."
"For one, that wasn’t a life threatening injury. There’s no way a piece of glass traveling at that speed (thrown and then hit, further slowing it) could have broken through her skull," someone else agreed.
"Yeah I doubt they’ll kill her off, she’ll be in a coma or something to give Fisk an emotional and sympathetic side," said another user.
Others aren't so sure, though – and they don't think Karen is Matt's equivalent to Vanessa, either. "Honestly I think the parallel is Foggy," wrote someone else. "Although I have a feeling Fisk is going to take his loss a little bit worse than Matt took his, which is SAYING something."
