Dara O’Briain left furious as he slams Dublin Airport as a 'mess'

Irish comedian Dara O'Briain hit out at Dublin Airport for it's 'insane queues', calling the airport a 'mess'.

The Bray man tweeted on Sunday that bosses ‘should be on your knees, thanking your staff’ for ‘their patience and charm’.

Huge queues have been leaving Dublin Airport passengers frustrated in recent months, with more queues hitting the airport again this morning. Wait times of two hours have been reported, with some calling it the "worst airport experience."

Comedian Dara shared a pic of digital passport checkers closed, which are used along with customs officers to verify passports. He also tweeted that only one customs officer was manning the EU/UK customs check, causing further delays.

Dara expressed his anger, taking to Twitter saying: "Hey Dublin Airport, any chance you could finally get these working? It might take the pressure off the ONE customs officer manning the EU/UK desk today."

Getting more and more frustrated, Dara said: "Honestly the place just seems astonished to find planes arriving."

Dara wasn't the only person left fuming over the queues.

Yesterday annoyed passengers slammed the scenes as a "hot mess" and a "health and safety issue" as queues reached as far as the short term car park.

One passenger claimed it took her two hours to get to her gate.

She said: "I have global entry … that didn’t matter. Was almost 1.5 hours before we even got to that point. Everyone at that airport was saying it was unprecedented.

"No idea what was up but maybe the worst airport experience I’ve ever had? And that’s saying a lot!"

A third said: "It’s crazy queues from the car park to get through security and people checking in downstairs can’t get upstairs."

When asked about the reported delays at the airport today, Graeme McQueen, daa Media Relations Manager told Dublin Live: "It's another busy Sunday at Dublin Airport, but queues are moving well at security screening with pass-through times this afternoon currently under 30 minutes in both terminals.

"We thank passengers for continuing to work with us as we move further into the busy summer season and remind anyone travelling in the days and weeks ahead to arrive at the airport in plenty of time ahead of their flight.

"Our recommendation remains to arrive at the airport up to two and a half hours before a short-haul flight and up to three and a half hours prior to a long-haul flight. Where possible, passengers should also look to check-in online in advance of travelling to the airport."
