Dapo Afolayan reveals Bolton Wanderers goals & assists target in League One play-offs push

Dapo Afolayan is hoping to reach 20 goals and 10 assists this season for Bolton Wanderers as part of the club's push to sneak into the League One play-offs.

The 24-year-old has been among the stars of the season for Wanderers and is the club's top scorer with 13 strikes in all competitions so far.

He has also notched five assists this campaign and is aiming to double that particular statistic by the conclusion of the season.

Wanderers find themselves sitting 11th in the League One table ahead of tomorrow's trip to Gillingham and eight points from the top six as they hope to make it into the play-offs by the end of April.

Attacker Afolayan is hoping that Wanderers can narrow that gap and sneak into the top six by the conclusion of the campaign.

And he is hoping to find the back of the net seven more times between now and the end of April as he pinpointed work over last summer helping to transform his form in front of goal.

Speaking to the Pitch Side podcast, Afolayan said: "For us it's to hopefully sneak into the play-offs and make it back to back. For the gaffer it would be back to back to back as well.

"That's our ambition obviously to hopefully sneak in there.

"I want to see if I can get to 20 (goals), I've got 13 in all comps. I want to get to 20 goals and get 10 assists as well so hopefully that will give me a good, all rounded season. Hopefully that's what I can get to.

"It's going really well to be honest, especially on a personal level. I think we started off well and we got promoted last year.

"We started the season well and had a bit of a dip but we've had some good results so we're making a little late play-off run.

"11 goals in the league. I want to score as many as possible. Last season I scored once so I just want to get as many as possible really.

"I think I was doing well last season but I think the last bit was missing and so I went away in the summer, worked on it, came back this season and done alright."
