The altercation reportedly began when a water balloon was thrown at Trejo's lowrider convertible during the Independence Day celebration in the Sunland-Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles. Concerned that the balloon contained acid and might damage his vehicle, Trejo investigated the situation, only to be hit by another water balloon, leading to a scuffle.
