Manchester United graduate Danny Simpson has fired back at talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor for comments he made about the stunning pre-season victory over Liverpool.
Getting the Erik ten Hag reign off to a winning start, goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and substitute Facundo Pellistri did the damage in a 4-0 verdict at the Rajamangala Stadium, in Bangkok.
As much as the result, it was an all-action performance that caught the eye for supporters and those keeping tabs online, but Agbonlahor was not so convinced as he took aim at United for their 'meaningless' victory. However, that assessment has resulted in some unwanted social media attention for the former Aston Villa man.

Speaking on radio station talkSPORT, ex- Premier League striker turned pundit Agbonlahor said: "People are talking about the [Liverpool] game and some United fans are getting excited, but pre-season doesn't matter. Players are at different stages of fitness, playing in Thailand, the weather, the humidity, it's going to be hard to play in.
"Pre-season is about your fitness, isn't it? It's not about results at all. I wouldn't look into that night - and it probably could be the last time United beat Liverpool until next pre-season."
Responding to those comments, former United defender Simpson said: "Come on Gabby. If they got beat 4-0 then the media would have had a field day with the squad and the manager."
Simpson began his career at Old Trafford and made eight senior appearances for the club. He later played for sides such as Newcastle and QPR, while the right-back, 35, was also part of the heroic Premier League title-winning team at Leicester during the 2015/2016 season.
