Danny Rose recalls Harry Kane conversation which could provide hint to Tottenham Hotspur future

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose believes Harry Kane could 'easily score 45 goals' in Manchester City's team amid reports he could leave the club this summer.

Kane is out of contract in North London in 12 months' time with the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich having been linked with a move in the upcoming transfer window. The England captain has netted 27 Premier League goals so far this season but as a team, Spurs have endured a torrid campaign.

Spurs are already out of the running for a place in the top four and could be out of Europe all together next season if results continue as they are. There is also serious uncertainty surrounding the vacant managerial position after former Bayern Munich boss Julien Naglesmann was ruled out of the running earlier this week.

Kane has only really been close to leaving Spurs once in his career so far, which came back in 2021 when he almost made the move to Man City. That, however, never materialised and City have since filled the striker position with Erling Haaland, who has broken all sorts of records in his first season in England with 48 goals in all competitions.

As Kane approaches his thirties, talk over his trophyless career continues to follow him and therefore this summer could certainly be an interesting one if clubs firm up their interest. Kane's desire to move to Man City two years ago was well documented and speaking to Stadium Astro, his ex-teammate Rose appeared to back up that point by recalling a conversation he had with the striker, which could be a hint as to how he wants this summer to pan out.

He said: “I remember when I was still at the club, we were having a conversation and he said, ‘Gosh, if I was at [Manchester] City I would score 45 goals.’

“I remember thinking, yeah OK Harry calm down, and actually looking at it now I think he’s right, he could easily score 45 goals.”
