Danny Jones, the new King of the Jungle on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, won’t receive a cash prize for his victory.
The 38-year-old singer claimed the title on Sunday night after beating fellow finalists Coleen Rooney, also 38, and Reverend Richard Coles, 62.
Unlike other reality TV competitions, I'm A Celeb does not offer a financial reward for winning. Contestants receive a flat fee for their participation, provided they stay in the jungle for at least 72 hours as previously reported by Metro.co.uk.
Jones reportedly earned between £100,000 and £150,000 for his time in the jungle, while Rooney is said to have made history with a record-breaking £1.5 million payday.
So, while Jones leaves the jungle with a title and memories, his reward will only be the pre-arranged fee, just like the rest of his fellow campmates.
The McFly frontman will also have to return his floral crown and wooden sceptre, which he was awarded during the finale, before heading back to the UK.
Last year’s winner, Sam Thompson, revealed he too had to hand back the items, joking that he had "nothing to show" for his victory.
Speaking about it with This Morning host and former campmate Josie Gibson last year, he said: “I didn't get to keep anything! They wouldn't let me keep anything!
“I had to give the sceptre back. I really wanted to bring it through airport security because it's quite big. But yeah, I don't have anything to show for it.”
During Sunday’s final Jones, 38, joined hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly in the studio and told them it felt “amazing” and “surreal” to win.
Addressing the viewers who had voted for him, he added: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I gave my all in there, gave myself, and it’s a lovely feeling to be liked.”
Music star Jones, who won singing show The Masked Singer earlier in the year, was crowned king of the jungle by 2023 I’m A Celebrity winner, reality star Sam Thompson.
In 2011, Jones’ bandmate and McFly’s bass player, Dougie Poynter, emerged victorious in the competition.
In the final the finalists faced fish guts, spiders and cockroaches as they embarked on the last Bushtucker trial, The Towers Of Terror.
In the first half of the challenge, the campmates were joined by snakes as they lay down inside separate levels of a wooden tower where they had to manoeuvre stars, passing them down to one another until they reached the lowest level of the tower.
The celebrities managed to collect all six stars and moved onto the second half of the trial, where they were tasked with untying a variety of knots while in the company of some critters.
The trio were able to retrieve all of the remaining stars, meaning they won a reward of a three-course meal and drink.
On Monday, Jones said I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! was the “most overwhelming, amazing, rewarding experience” of his life.
Appearing via video call on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday, he said: “Jungle time is crazy. It goes so slow but friendships seem to blossom really quickly.
“And you do have time to talk and there’s no distractions like phones and other things. So all we had was a campfire, a lovely stream, some jungle to chill in and the trials to do so you get to know everybody really well.
“But I think what made it for me was the campmates, the campmates were incredible. They had questions and they listened and we chatted, and we got to know each other so well.
“It was the most overwhelming, amazing, rewarding experience I think I’ll ever have in my life.”
It marks Jones’s third win this year after he came first on the latest series of The Masked Singer and his artist on ITV’s The Voice, Ava, whom he coached alongside his McFly bandmate Tom Fletcher, won the show in October.
