Danny Dyer had some bad news for EastEnders fans hoping for a shock comeback for Mick Carter as he claims it's 'time to move on.'
EastEnders beat soap rivals Coronation Street and Emmerdale in the Christmas Day ratings on Sunday night, as millions tuned into see Mick bow out in dramatic style. The seeds were sown on some festive chaos after Mick's wedding to super villain Janine Butcher at the end of Friday's episode, when an incriminating photo of Janine finally came to light, months are fans predicted it may hold the key to her demise.
The highly anticipated Christmas Day episode of EastEnders saw Janine exposed by young mum Jada, who she'd blackmailed to frame Mick's ex wife Linda and her own daughter Scarlett, who revealed to everyone that Janine had taken a call from Linda on the day she was involved in a 'drink drive' crash, which never actually happened.

With her number up, Janine fled Albert Square, as Mick and Linda gave chase, determined to bring her to justice. But, after Linda ended up in Janine's car and the two ploughed off a cliff, Mick went in after them and was nowhere to be seen. As the fallout of Mick's disappearance plays out on EastEnders, many fans are tipping him to make a Harold Bishop style comeback, in similar fashion to the Neighbours icon, who came back years later with amnesia.
However, appearing as a guest on Mo Gilligan's Lateish Show, alongside Love Island winner daughter Dani, Danny appeared to pour cold water on the suggestion of a return, saying: "It's an end of an era for me, I've had ten years in that show, it's a long stretch for me. It's time to move on."
He added: "I don't want to come back, is what I'm saying..." to which Dani exclaimed: "Oh my God, dad!"
Host Mo floated the idea of Danny returning 'from the dead' like Leslie Grantham's Dirty Den, but Danny shot him down, responding: "No, I can't", adding: "I don't fancy it, Mo. I think I’ve done it now, I’ve done over 1,000 episodes. I don't think there's much more I can do in it."
In a separate interview, Danny has also revealed there was an alternative ending for Mick. While now revealing what it was, he explained: "To make the decision I made, I didn’t make it lightly. It’s a huge job to walk away from. I wanted it to be a fitting end, so hopefully it is. There was an alternative ending, to be fair, but we’ve not gone with that."
