Danilho Doekhi has laid out his "dream" of playing in the Champions League ahead of a potential move to Rangers.
The Ibrox side are interested in the centre-back after he entered the final six months of his Vitesse Arnhem contract.
Gio van Bronckhorst and sporting director Ross Wilson have already move to snap up John Souttar on a pre-contract and could look to land the 23-year-old in a similar swoop.
But a successful Premiership title win could play a factor in bringing Doekhi to Govan.
This season's title winners will all-but be guaranteed a spot in the group stage of the Champions League.
The skipper is set to leave Vitesse in the summer and admits playing among Europe's elite is his aim next term which could set up a move to Glasgow.
Doekhi also admits he is keen to follow in the footsteps of hero Virgil van Dijk who left Groningen for Celtic, before making the step to the English Premier League.
He told Dutch outlet De Volkskrant : "My dream? Playing in the Champions League and for the Netherlands.
“I watch his game a lot (Van Dijk). I try to analyse on a detailed level how he handles certain competition situations.
"Players are never completely the same in terms of qualities, but I try to recognise things in his game that I could also do.
"But if I continue to develop as I am doing now, I think I can reach the top one day."
Van Bronckhorst and Wilson look to be weighing up their options at the back with Connor Goldson yet to agree a new deal at the club.
Forgotten Jack Simpson also looks to be on the way out with Hearts stopper Souttar arriving in the summer.
