Danielle Hunter on returning to Minnesota ‘I’d love to be here’

There are a lot of questions that the Minnesota Vikings will have to answer over the next few months.

One of the biggest ones is surrounding the team is the future of outside linebacker Danielle Hunter. His contract voids this offseason and the Vikings cannot place either the franchise tag or transition tag on him due to the amended contract he signed this July.

Hunter spoke to reporters after the game and expressed his desire to stay in Minnesota.

“I’d love to be here. This is all I know. I’ve been here my whole career.”

Hunter is coming off of a career year, setting a career-high with 16.5 sacks and a team record with 22.0 tackles for loss, a stat that has been kept since 1999. Due to his level of success this season, the contract he will command is significantly higher due to the massive success he had this season.

The Vikings currently have around $37 million in salary cap space going into the offseason so there is room to bring Hunter back. We will see how things shape up this offseason but at least Hunter wants to return.
