Daniel Theis, Paul George on how Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitzki changed basketball

When it comes to German basketball, a pair of figures stood out growing up for former Boston Celtics big man Daniel Theis. The more obvious example most can guess given Theis’ position and nationality is Hall of Fame Dallas Mavericks big man Dirk Nowitzki. The other? The Big Ticket of course.

It figures a gritty player like Theis would gravitate to the play of Kevin Garnett, his fellow Boston big man alumnus. Speaking on a recent episode of his Los Angeles Clippers teammate Paul George’s “Podcast P” show, the Salzgitter native admitted he grew up idolizing Garnett instead of Nowitzki like most Germans. He was attracted to KG’s intense mindset and competitiveness.

Theis appreciated how Garnett approached every game with the mentality to destroy his opponent, even if it was just a regular season or pickup game.

Check out the link embedded above to hear what PG and Theis had to say about these two NBA luminaries and their effects on their careers.
