Monaco native Charles Leclerc starts from pole position in his home Formula 1 race on Sunday night, with the threat of rain hovering over the streets of Monte Carlo.
The Ferrari driver was a class above the rest during Saturday's qualifying session, blitzing the field for his second pole at Monaco in as many years.
The Monegasque man will be hoping for better luck this year than in the 2021 race, where a drive shaft issue on his Ferrari meant he did not start the grand prix.
Australian Daniel Ricciardo has it all to do in his McLaren, starting the famous race in 14th after a poor qualifying.
While his teammate Lando Norris was able to qualify fifth, Ricciardo could not find the same pace in his car.
The Australian said he is hoping for poor weather during the race, to help him around a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult.
"We'll keep at it and hopefully it rains," he said.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen has also said he is hoping for the heavens to open over Monaco, after qualifying fourth.
Verstappen leads the drivers' championship by six points over Leclerc, after winning the last these races.
"I think I need to do a little rain dance, shake it up a bit for the race because in the dry, you cannot pass around here," he said on Saturday.
