Daniel Radcliffe breaks silence on new Harry Potter series and whether he'll return

Daniel Radcliffe has broken his silence on the Harry Potter TV series and whether he'll be making a return.

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise were excited to hear recently that a TV version is being created.

Daniel has now opened up on whether he would consider reprising his role as the main character. Despite fans being keen to see him back, the 33-year-old said that he doubts he would be asked to join the cast.

He explained that he thinks the producers are wanting to "start fresh" with the upcoming series at bringing "old Harry" back may cause some production issues.

In an article with ComicBook.com he said: "My understanding is that they're trying to very much start fresh, and I'm sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere."

It's thought the iconic trio of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) won't be reuniting in the new show.

Daniel added: "I'm definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world, and I'm very excited to have that torch passed. But I don't think it needs me to physically pass it."

It was announced back in April that a reboot series was being made at Max, which used to be called HBO Max.

Each of the series will be based on a book from the franchise and they will be released over a decade.

JK Rowling is the executive producer on the show, alongside Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.

David Heyman, who executive produced all the Harry Potter movies, is also in talks to executive produce.

Daniel was just 12-years-old when he starred in the first film of the Harry Potter franchise, and has been famous ever since.

He has now gone on the star in a number of other films and series such as horror story The Woman In Black, Now You See Me 2 and The Lost City.
