Daniel O’Donnell ‘superfan’ Molly Sloyan has shared a selection of new images giving a glimpse of her life over the past year since being released from prison after she was jailed for her role in a cocaine lab in Cork.
Molly, now 28, was one of four people convicted in 2018 for a sophisticated plan to extract cocaine from fabric material imported from Brazil.
She was originally sentenced to 10 years in prison but this was reduced on appeal to five years with 18 months suspended.
She was given temporary release in October 2019 - just 17 months after she was caged on condition she engaged with the Probation Services for two years.
Described as a party girl, Molly, from Kinsale, admitted renting the Airbnb house and bought chemicals to set up the drug operation, Cork Circuit Criminal court had heard.
Cocaine was chemically implanted in clothing and fabric in South America and the house in Bantry was being used to remove the drug using the chemicals. The value of the high-purity cocaine was estimated to be €70,000.
Now, Sloyan has given followers of her Facebook page a glimpse into her life since being freed from prison with a large selection of photographs of her travels with her mum and two dogs.
Captioning the album of 116 photos, Molly wrote: “Another year of living - sun, fun, family and friends.”
One recent image shows Molly and her mum wearing face coverings standing beside a large Christmas tree, while another shows Molly sipping a cocktail and another shows her on the steps of an historic building with one of her dogs.
She shared another image of herself, wearing a white t-shirt and denim shorts sitting on an outdoor couch with a tropical backdrop behind her. Another image shows Molly wearing a skimpy black skirt, top and large hat while looking out into the ocean.
Replying to pal online who asked her “is it now in Spain?” Molly wrote: “Not now, some of these are over the last year.”
She replied ‘Soon’ to another pal who asked her when she was going to Spain.
Molly became an internet sensation when she appeared in the audience of the RTE's Late Late Show in February 2016.
She was caught on camera looking disgusted because her idol Daniel was not appearing on the popular TV show.
Her face went from absolute delight to visible shock when host Ryan Tubridy introduced "Daniel" before impersonator Mario Rosenstock walked out on the Valentine Day special.
She later went on to meet her country crooner idol, but her family were then rocked in 2018 when she was arrested on serious drug charges.
As he sentenced her to 10 years' jail with the final three suspended in May 2018, Judge Sean O Donnabhain said the four ran a sophisticated system of extracting cocaine out of fabric imported from Brazil and were, in effect, a "factory".
Her then boyfriend Sean McManus, described as the main player, was caged for 12 years.
She successfully appealed against the severity of her sentence in 2019, with the Court of Appeal holding that the 10-year headline tariff was “simply too high” and she was resentenced to five years imprisonment with the final 18 months suspended.
