Daniel O'Donnell says he’s now the designated babysitter for his beloved grandkids as he prepares to roll up his sleeves on a family trip abroad before heading back on the road.
The country crooner is getting ready to return to the stage for a busy tour season this autumn, after a long hiatus due to the pandemic.
But the Donegal native said he is eager to squeeze in some quality family time in the sun first with his beloved grandchildren, before taking to the road again.

Daniel told Irish Daily Mirror: “We’re going to Tenerife next week for two weeks.
“I’m brought to babysit,” he laughed.
After RTE’s Ryan Tubridy revealed he can’t go anywhere in the world without being recognised, Daniel said he finds it easier to get away unless he goes looking for an Irish crowd abroad.
“Ah it depends where you are,” the legendary singer said.
“When you are out and about people generally aren’t that interested and on a day to day basis. But when you go in to the Irish bars you are going to meet lots of people.
“And that’s my choice to do that.”
And the I Just Want to Dance With You hitmaker went on to joke that he is even often the one racing to show off his talents on stage.
He quipped: “I'm not always dragged up, I might be running up.”
Before setting off on holiday, Daniel is wrapping up filming for his TG4's country music series, Opry Le Daniel.
But he said he is yet to decide whether he and his wife Majella will be making a return to the screen anytime soon in their fan favourite RTE Roadtrip shows.
“We’ve had no discussions with anyone yet, we are not saying we are going to them or that we are not going to do them. If they happen, they happen.
It comes after he left Virgin Media Television viewers in stitches after showing his wife Majella in bed on live TV.
The hilarious incident happened as the 60-year-old struggled to set up his camera for a remote interview on Ireland AM.
Laughing off the gaffe, he said: “We are always doing the wrong thing. Sometimes you just can’t be but what you are.”
Daniel was speaking in Dublin this week, where he was on hand to help Charlie Bird launch his new book, Climb with Charlie.
Opening up about his new friendship with the former RTE broadcaster, he singer, who sang when the group reached the top of the mountain in April, said: “He just has made such an impression on everybody.
“And we know Charlie Bird for years as the correspondent for RTE and we have hung on his stories down through the years and as I said that day on Croagh Patrick, no story he has ever brought to us was as heartwarming as his own, or made such a difference as his own did.”
“The book is a great way to document what happened on that day, it was an amazing day.”
