Daniel Dubois’ opponent Kevin Lerena has opened up on his “crazy story” of being shot by Oscar Pistorius.
Lerena challenges WBA heavyweight champ Dubois on Saturday on the undercard of Tyson Fury's clash with Derek Chisora and Pistorius accidentally fired a pal’s pistol, wounding him in the toe, nine years ago. The incident happened in a Johannesburg restaurant, just weeks before the double-amputee athlete fatally shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013.
Lerena recounted the incident when he testified in Pistorius’ trial a year later and said he was left with a cut toe when the Olympian fired off one bullet underneath the restaurant table. The South African claimed in court that Pistorius tried to get his friend to take the blame for the accident because he was worried it would damage his reputation.
