Daniel Craig receives same honour bestowed on James Bond at Windsor Castle

The name's Craig, Daniel Craig CMG.

The James Bond star received the same honour as bestowed on his character 007 this morning [October 18], as the actor was made a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George by the Princess Royal during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Daniel, 54, looked dapper in a dark-blue suit as the late Queen's daughter Anne placed the prestigious award for services to film and theatre around his neck - the very same honour held by Ian Fleming’s iconic character, James Bond.

The actor first appeared as 007 in Casino Royale back in 2006, taking over from his predecessor Pierce Brosnan, and his swansong in No Time To Die was released in cinema theatres across the world last year - marking the end of his five-film stint as 007.

During his time as Britain's famous fictional spy, Daniel famously alongside in character alongside the Queen in a sketch to mark the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Royal Family marked Daniel's honour this morning, tweeting the snap of the actor and the Princess Royal alongside the caption: "We’ve been expecting you…

"The Princess Royal presents Daniel Craig with The Order of St Michael and St George - the same honour held by his character James Bond - in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film and theatre."

The iconic scene saw Daniel as Bond calling at Buckingham Palace to accompany the Queen to the sporting event, being greeted by the monarch sitting at a writing desk with the words: "Good evening Mr Bond".

A quick walk to a helicopter – accompanied by the royal corgis – then saw the actor and the late Head of State seemingly soar over London and over the Olympic Stadium before the Queen appeared to parachute into the arena (a role played by a stunt double).

The Princess Royal meeting the actor to present him with his honour comes as it's reported her son-in-law Mike Tindall is reportedly set to make history as the first royal to appear on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! next month.

If the reports are true, and Mike is currently packing his bags ready for the flight Down Under, Anne, Princess Royal's son-in-law is set to command a bumper fee for his stint in the celebrity camp - with the reality TV star veteran possibly likely to rake in just as much as another big name attached to this year's series, Boy George.

But despite his rumoured appearance being history-making, the former rugby player - who is marred to Zara Tindall - won't the the biggest earner on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! later this year.

One TV insider told the Mirror earlier this month how the royal's fee for appearing on the ITV will likely match Boy George's but won't eclipse it.

"Although Mike is a royal with a huge appeal, Boy George is a global pop star with dedicated fans across the globe," the source explained.

"I would expect Mike to receive between £500,000 to £700,000 to appear on the show - certainly a healthy pay packet."
