Well, ‘DC’ has revealed that the reason for Rakhmonov’s underwhelming display is because he fought with a serious knee injury. Cormier has confirmed that the 19-0 #1 welterweight contender went into the Ian Machado Garry fight with a torn MCL.

In the aftermath of UFC 310, Daniel Cormier has revealed that Shavkat Rakhmonov had been suffering from a serious knee injury his entire camp, and went into the Ian Garry fight with a torn MCL.
“I learned after, that [Shavkat] fought with an injury. I think he tore his MCL going into that fight. With a torn ligament in your knee, you’re not going to look like the killer that you looked like in fights prior,” said Cormier on his YouTube channel.
This could be the reason for Shavkat’s strange performance, with many fans puzzled as to why he didn’t look as good as usual. The 30-year-old was a pre-fight favourite with the best UFC betting sites in the UK, and did eventually get the job done via decision.
His five-round unanimous decision victory over Ian Garry at UFC 310 was the first time Rakhmonov had ever heard the final bell in his MMA career, having won all his previous 18 fights via knockout or submission.
UFC President Dana White has revealed that Rakhmonov will face Belal Muhammad next for the UFC Welterweight Title, once the champion has recovered from his injury and Shavkat has rested up too.
UFC fans will be hoping the unbeaten welterweight won’t need surgery on his injured knee, meaning he could return to the octagon for his maiden title fight before the summer. Time will tell whether this is the case or not.
