Daniel Cormier sees the incentive for Conor McGregor to coach Season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter” against Tony Ferguson.
McGregor revealed that he’ll be coaching the upcoming season of “TUF,” with the likes of Ferguson, Michael Chandler, and Rafael dos Anjos throwing their names in the hat to oppose “The Notorious.”
Cormier sees McGregor and Ferguson delivering entertainment on the show, but also believes it’s a winnable fight for McGregor’s comeback.
“I absolutely tap in. I think it would be funny to see Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor doing the show,” Cormier said on his ESPN show DC & RC. “But also that’s a fight Conor McGregor could win when he comes back.”
McGregor has lost three of his past four and will be returning from a gruesome broken leg suffered in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He hasn’t won since a January 2020 welterweight headliner vs. Donald Cerrone.
Ferguson is also looking to get back in the win column. After amassing a 12-fight winning streak, the former interim lightweight champ has lost his past five fights dating back to May 2020. He most recently lost by submission to Nate Diaz this past September at UFC 279.
