There was nearly an unwanted trophy disaster for newly crowned Dancing on Ice winner Regan Gascoigne after he and Karina Manta were announced as champions.
Going into Sunday's final of the ITV show, Gazza's son was the bookies red hot favourite to win and he proved them right as he and Karina put in some dazzling performances on the night. Regan and fellow Dancing on Ice finalists Brendan Cole and Kimberly Wyatt opened their account with a Showcase skate, with all of them earning a perfect 40 from the judges.
Regan and Karina wowed with a Mary Poppins themed routine to Step in Time, before they reprised their high scoring Barnum number from a few weeks ago for round two. After Kimberly finished third, Regan and Brendan both went onto skate Bolero, as Torvill and Dean looked on, 38 years after that very routine won them gold at the Winter Olympics.

There was nothing to separate Regan and Brendan on the leaderboard, with they and Kimberly all finishing on 80/80. But, in the end, it was Regan and Karina who were Dancing on Ice winners, having topped the public vote.
Regan, who had been a ball of emotions all night, broke down on tears on hearing his and Karina's name, with host Holly Willoughby joking: "We'll get nothing out of them!" When the 2022 champions managed to regain composure, they were handed the trophy before Regan was lifted onto the shoulders of another skater to hold the accolade high in the air.
But, disaster nearly struck for Regan, 26, as he was getting down. He fell forwards with the trophy in his hand, but managed to regain his footing before falling onto his faceor dropping the trophy.
Holly let out a startled gasp as Regan stumbled, with everyone looking mightily relieved that things didn't turn out as bad as they could have done.
