Dancing On Ice viewers emotional as Siva Kaneswaran dedicates routine to late dad

Siva Kaneswaran paid an emotional tribute to his dad during the episode of Dancing On Ice that aired on Sunday, February 5. The Wanted star explained to his professional skating partner Klabera Komini that the song of choice for dance week meant a lot to him for a very special reason.

The pair danced The Waltz to Three Times a Lady by Commodores. Siva explained: "It means a lot to me and my family, it's the first memory of music I ever had and it was of my dad."

Siva explained that his dad passed away when he was six and that this week marks the anniversary of his death. "We used to sit and listen to Lionel Richie on vinyl for hours, because he loved Lionel Richie, we did," he explained.

Choking up, Siva continued: "I miss him every year more and more. This is a way for me to express how much I love him and how much my whole family did. This one's for daddy."

The pair got 30 for the routine, with presenter Holly Willoughby telling Siva: "It was very beautiful and you could really tell it meant so much to you."

Thanking everyone for their support, Siva then took a moment to pay tribute to his mother. He said: "Thank you to my mum, she raised eight of us by herself."

Providing his feedback, Christopher Dean said: "Your skating was so tender and masculine and the same time," while Oti Mabuse added: "Every single week you get better, you're a dark horse."

"It was nice to see you do a slow routine, it enabled you to have the long leg lines and finishes and I loved that you did two lifts," Jayne Torvill said, while Ashley Banjo told Siva: "Congrats on a beautiful skate."

Viewers also reacted to the emotional routine, as one wrote: "Siva's dance was so so beautiful. Such a lovely man as well, he's done his dad proud."

And a third commented: "I'm sobbing!! Siva that was beautiful." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
