Dancing On Ice viewers disappointed as ITV issues statement over 2022 final

The Dancing On Ice 2022 finalists were announced on Sunday, March 13 but viewers will have to wait a while to find out the winner.

The semi-finals saw Brendan Cole and Vanessa Bauer, Kimberly Wyatt and Matt Hanretty and Regan Gascoigne and Karina Manta go through to the final, with Connor Ball and Alexandra Schauman and Kye Whyte and Tippy Packard just missing out.

But those hoping to tune in next week to find out the 2022 winner will be disappointed as the final has been delayed.

Phillip Schofield, who presented the show without Holly Willoughby after she tested positive for Covid-19, confirmed the news at the end of the live show, telling viewers he'd see them in a couple of weeks.

The delay is due to the FA Cup, which will air in Dancing on Ice's usual time slot next weekend.

Dancing On Ice also released a statement, telling its social media followers: "Well done to @schofe for reigning over proceedings and bringing us such an incredible show singlehandedly.

"Don't forget we're off next week, so won't be on air next Sunday. But we will be back with a bang for an incredible Live Final, Sunday 27th March at 6.30pm! Don't miss it."

It comes after ITV announced Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and the final of Starstruck had been cancelled on Saturday, March 19 to make way for the Six Nations Live. You can read more on this here.

Many viewers shared their disppointment over the news, with one writing: "How dare they cancel #DancingOnIce for the football next week."

While another added: "Sport is literally taking over ITV atm Takeaway isn't on next week because of rugby and final of dancing on ice has been moved a week due to fa cup."

And a third commented: "Although I was not pleased that the show has to be moved for the FA cup, the good news is that everyone will have two weeks to practice which should make for an even better final."

While a fourth wrote: "Such a shame football means we won’t get the final for 2 weeks."
