Dancing On Ice's Stef Reid suffered 'nasty' fall on ice hours before live routine

Dancing On Ice star Christopher Dean revealed contestant Stef Reid took a huge fall just hours before her performance on the ITV series.

Stef made her debut live on Sunday night, alongside professional skating partner Andy Buchanan.

But hours before the show, it's revealed Stef took a nasty fall during a rehearsal before going on to perform in front of the judges and the audience.

A clip showed the moment Andy performed a lift with Stef in the air, only for him to slip with Stef crashing to the ground.

Stef was shown flying through the air, before landing on the ice with a thump as Andy looked shocked.

She immediately got back up though, as did her pro partner, before getting back to it and trying again.

Hours later the duo performed the same routine with the huge lift, with the crowd heard booing when the judges gave their scores - with some believing they deserved more.

Chris had said Stef was "inspiring" for getting out there and pulling off the routine, after such a nasty fall not long before.

He said: "Particularly inspiring to get on and do that performance tonight, because earlier on today in rehearsal you took a massive fall in a lift.

"You came down really heavy as we can see, and you just got back up, you ran through it tonight, you came back on and delivered that performance. So kudos to that, well done."

They then showed the clip, with host Holly Willoughby heard shouting: "Oh gosh," and those in the audience also heard reacting.

The crowd then cheered her on, as she hugged it out with partner Andy.

After Stef took to the ice rink for her debut performance, the judges scored her a total of 24, with a string of sixes.

But as judges Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse called out their number scores, the audience alongside the ice rink booed the modest ratings.

Dancing on Ice viewers at home took to Twitter to express their confusion over the response from the audience, particularly given that this was Stef’s debut performance.

One viewer wrote: “Why are they booing a 6, it's only the first week she's skating #DancingOnIce."

Another tweeted: “Why are the audience booing 6s? That's a great score for her first skate! #DancingOnIce."

A third said: “Why are they booing!!? That was OVERMARKED!”

Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6:30pm on ITV.
