Dancing on Ice star Matt Richardson has said he's been to hospital after a brain infection caused him to suffer memory loss. The 31-year-old says he fell ill after attending a Green Day concert in Dublin and took his Instagram to share the worrying news to his followers.
In the post he admits he is trying to piece together what happened and reveals that he can't remember anything from the event, with the infection also causing swelling on his brain. Alongside a photograph of him and his brother at the concert in Marlay Park, the comedian said he has contracted 'a lovely infection', the Mirror reports.
He wrote: "My brother and I went to see Green Day in Dublin last week. And I sadly can’t remember it as I’ve had a lovely infection which caused some wonderful affects to my brain and loads of amnesia. After a really cool trip to hospital I’m trying to piece it all together again. Hopefully the memories come back but if I owe you money, sorry you’re on your own x."

Matt, who competed on Dancing on Ice in 2021, clearly had fun while at the concert as the photo shows him smiling next to his brother. After the event, Matt's brother also shared photos of the pair together on his Twitter and commented: "Had a brilliant few days away in Dublin with @MattRichardson3 to see @HellaMegaTour with @GreenDay @falloutboy @Weezer".
Many of Matt's friends and followers took to the comment section of his post to send him messages of support. Love Island host Laura Whitmore wrote: "Hope you’re ok!!! X." Comedians Paul Smith and Lauren Pattison also sent supportive messages, urging him to get well soon.
The Chase's quizmaster Jenny Ryan added: "Flipping heck," while @styleisleirl said: "I hope you’re ok!" Meanwhile, his friend @samrollinson quipped: "You owe me 7 hours at a very expensive spa- to pay for the harrowing 7 hours at A and E."
@gftben added: "Oh dude, sorry to hear that. Hope you're feeling better x." @amy_voce said: "Yikes that sounds a bit intense mate, rest up." @coastal_comedy typed: "Oh no how scary. I hope you’re ok now Matt xx."
Matt replaced comedian Rufus Hound in Dancing on Ice and was partnered with Vicky Ogden. They were eliminated after just one week. As well as Dancing on Ice, Matt is best known for his time on The Xtra Factor, where he presented alongside Caroline Flack in 2013.
