Dancing on Ice's Connor Ball left bleeding on live TV after nasty fall backstage

The Vamps star Connor Ball was left bleeding on live television after a nasty fall backstage at Dancing on Ice.

Already one of the most improved contestants of the ITV' s new series, music favourite Connor was back on the ice on Sunday, alongside pro partner Alexandra.

This week's theme was Dance Week, with all manner of genres covered by the performances, from waltz to reggaeton and even vogue.

Connor and Alexandra skated a Charleston to Take That hit Out of Our Heads but, as the routine finished and the made their way over to talk to Dancing on Ice hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, and get comments from the judges it became apparent that all wasn't right.

As Connor started clutching his chin, a crew member rushed in to hand him some tissue to try and compress the blood.

Stand-in presenter Stephen then explained to concerned viewers: "As you know, Dancing on Ice is completely live. Connor was meant to open the entire show but had an accident backstage.

"He had stitches before the show, so he could't go on first and they've now opened up."

Turning to Connor, Stephen added: "Mate, I don't know how you could still perform," before quizzing him on what happened behind the scenes.

Connor revealed that, having been worried about his solo spin in this week's routine, he had been trying to perfect it and slipped, hitting his face off the ice.

It wasn't all bad news for Connor and Alexandra though, as they scored their highest score of the series for their Charleston - 33 out of 40.

That put them fourth on the leaderboard, which this week was topped by Kimberley Wyatt, who got a huge 37.5.
