Dancing on Ice's Connor Ball has secret weapon coming from Scotland to help win

Connor Ball has revealed he has a secret weapon that's bringing him good luck on Dancing On Ice.

The 25-year-old, from Aberdeen, Scotland, shot to fame as the bassist and one of four vocalists of The Vamps after their covers of pop songs went viral on YouTube.

Now he's one of the 12 contestants competing in Dancing On Ice this year, alongside his partner Finnish pro skater Alexandra Shauman.

Thrilled to see him take to the ice is his nan Isobel Fowlie, who he hopes will be his "lucky mascot".

He said: "I hope my granny will be my lucky Scottish mascot as she will be in the audience on Sunday. I want to do her proud and get through my first week without being in the skate-off.

"She’s been a big fan of the show for years and years. She’s so excited I’m on it."

But Isobel isn't just a fan of the show, she's "loves" show host Holly Willoughby too.

Connor added: "My grandma is buzzing. She’s seen all the training and she’s a massive fan of Holly (Willoughby). She loves Holly. Maybe she’s coming down to see her. I’ll need to set up a way of them meeting.”

Connor’s mum Kelly Ball, 47, will also be in the audience at the purpose-built rink at RAF Bovingdon in Hertfordshire, where the show is made, along with his Vamps bandmates.

His girlfriend, 25-year-old Lucy, who he has been dating for three years, has been also been a big support.

She shared a photo of Connor kissing her on the cheek with the caption: "I AM SO PROUD you absolutely smashed it @connorball @alex_lukasz."

Alexandra replied: "Awww you guys are too cute."

The musician is hoping Scotland can get behind him and his partner Alexandra – especially as he’s the only celeb from the north.

He said: "As the only Scot I hope everyone up there can get behind me whether I’m good or bad. I appreciate the votes.

"I’m nervous about Sunday and just want to try my best and get through it. I don’t think I’ll win the show but I just want to give it my best shot and see how far I can go.”

* Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday at 6pm on ITV
