Dancing on Ice makes huge change to this weekend's show as they scrap skate-off

The celebrities taking part in Dancing on Ice will fear being in the dread skate-off, where they have to skate for survival in the show, but this could be set to change on Dancing on Ice. It has been confirmed the show is making major changes to how the celebrities are voted off the show for one week only.

For the third live show, airing on Sunday, January 29 at 6.25pm on ITV1, celebrities will be voted off the show in a different way. Normally the two celebrities with the fewest public votes face each other in the skate-off and the judges, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo, decide who goes home after their skate-off performances.

However there will be no skate-off or judge's vote on Sunday, January 29. One celebrity will be voted out after their judges score and public votes are combined.

The celebrity with the lowest combined score will be leaving the competition, with no skate-off. The skate-off will only be missing for this episode, before returning on Sunday, February 5.

ITV have confirmed there will be no skate-off this Sunday but as of yet has not explained why the skate-off will be missing but have been contacted for comment. The celebrities will be dancing to musical numbers during week three of Dancing on Ice as they compete to stay in the competition.

Former footballer John Fashanu was the first celebrity to be voted off Dancing on Ice. He faced former Love Islander Ekin-Su in the skate-off and the judges unanimously voted to save Ekin-Su.

John said he had a great time on the show and plans to carry on skating. He said: "It's been great...it has been wonderful the FA Cup final again...yes, I shall carry on skating!"

Dancing on Ice airs on Sunday evenings on ITV1.
