Dancing on Ice will feature its first double elimination of the series next weekend, it has been confirmed.
Phillip Schofield announced the news towards the end of tonight's show as he and his co-host Holly Willoughby reflected on what an incredible show it had been.
Week eight of the competition saw the remaining contestants pay homage to skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean by recreating some of their most memorable performances.
Brendan Cole, Kimberly Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne all received a total score of 40 after wowing the judging panel with their latest stints on the ice.
Announcing the news this evening, Phil said: "There's something that our couples don't know. So listen up because - and we've kept this quiet all day - I can reveal that it's also next week a double elimination.
"Not one but two couples will be leaving us."
Reacting to the gasps and groans, Phil quipped: "And everybody went, 'Oh my god!' After the night you gave us tonight as well!
"Genuinely we think it's been one of the best shows, if not the best we have ever had!"
It comes after Stef Reid became the latest star to be kicked off the show this evening.
Stef and her professional skating partner Andy Buchanan found themselves in the dreaded skate-off against Kye Whyte and his partner Tippy Packard.
And it was Olympic BMX racer Kye who the judging panel chose to save and send through to next week's semi-final.
Paralympian Stef took it on the chin and smiled as she hugged Andy and thanked him for her time on the ITV show.
Dancing on Ice fans were divided about the result and took to Twitter to comment.
One person said: "Doesn't seem fair that Kye can perfect a routine about 6 times and Stef goes on the first time she performs her skate off routine #dancingonice."
Another joked: "Kai survives his 50th dance off of the season #doi #dancingonice."
A third person tweeted: "These judges are definitely not watching what I’m watching #DancingOnIce."
