Dancing on Ice fans react to 'disaster' as Rachel Stevens pulls out of show

Dancing on Ice has been plunged into further chaos as Rachel Stevens has sustained a knee injury, rendering her unable to appear in this week's show.

The S Club 7 star has become the second contestant to pull out of the show this week, as Happy Mondays rockstar Bez tested positive for Covid-19 just hours after the first show of the series aired.

Rachel's injury is skating-related, as she is said to have fractured her wrist after falling on the ice.

However, she should be able to return to the show in the near future, according to ITV.

A spokesperson told The Mirror: "Due to an injury sustained in training and on the expert advice from the Dancing on Ice medical professionals, Rachel Stevens will not skate in this Sunday's show.

"We look forward to her returning to the show next weekend."

Both Bez and Rachel are anticipated to return to the show for the third episode, which will air on January 30.

An ITV spokesperson told The Mirror: “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines."

Meanwhile, fans have expressed their disappointment that Rachel will not be performing in this week's show, and have sent their well wishes to the 43-year-old.

Stacey Peaks said: "That’s so annoying she’s was only one I was looking forward to this weekend x"

Ruth commented: "And so it begins… wish Rachel well but this is all starting to look like last year which I gave up watching as it became ridiculous with illness, injury, isolation!"

"Just disaster after disaster for these last 2 seasons." Jonathan Mruczek said.

But the producers will be used to the chaos from last year's series, as a host of celebrities had to step away from the ice due to testing positive for Covid-19 or sustaining an injury.

Dancing on Ice returns to our screens on Sunday, January 23, at 6.30pm.
