Dana White encouraged to reconsider Jake Paul's offer to fight Conor McGregor

UFC president Dana White has been told to reconsider Jake Paul's one-fight offer to face Conor McGregor in the octagon.

Paul has frequently angled towards a fight with McGregor throughout his short boxing career and has attempted to entice the Irishman into a feud on social media. The YouTube star recently offered the promotion's kingpin White an offer to face McGregor.

White dismissed the chances of any fight happening but UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub believes any clash would land a huge pay-per-view audience. “I wonder if Dana’s even going to entertain it? Gotta do it!," Schaub said during an episode of the Schaub Show.

"First things First, Dana is a businessman, this would be a banger on UFC pay-per-view. Conor vs Jake Paul – Connor -1800, the odds are on your side Mr. White. Why not do it dude?

“The hold out is going to be the UFC fighter pay and healthcare proposal. I don’t know what his proposal was, but I’m sure the UFC is like, dude we have to do what? The chance of him (Paul) beating Conor in the MMA ring is not good. But I’d watch it. I love it. I would do it.”

Paul took to social media to criticise training footage posted by McGregor as he made a comeback to training for the first time after breaking his leg last July. McGregor was drawn into the criticism, responding to the YouTuber for the first time by branding him a "jackass" in a comical video.

This later encouraged Paul to contact UFC president Dana White asking for the promotion's president to accept a new offer proposed, tweeting: "Dana - Since you like me now, how about a one-fight UFC deal to fight Conor.

"If I win, you agree to my UFC fighter pay and healthcare proposal. If I lose I donate my entire purse to all UFC fighters who make less than $50K a fight and never mention UFC again. Deal?"

White refused to rule out any potential fight taking place during an interview with Paul's brother Logan, but has admitted it is very unlikely. "Probably not," White said on the Impaulsive podcast. "I'm never closed off to anything. I used to say that about things but I don't anymore.

"I don't hate the kid. He came out and said, 'Now you love me'... well I never said that but I don't hate him. He's a young kid out there trying to make some money and I don't fault anyone for that.

"We have the most successful combat sports business of all time; what we do is completely different to what him and his brother [Logan] are doing." Paul has since issued a fresh demand by admitting he would face McGregor at 175lbs to combat the size difference between the pair which is considered a significant stumbling block.
