Dan Walker will be presenting BBC Breakfast alongside Sally Nugent for the last time on Tuesday, May 17.
Walker, who will taking over at as presenter of 5 News, announced his decision to exit BBC Breakfast after six years in a video message on Twitter, calling it "massive decision" because he loves the breakfast show but that it was a rare opportunity he wanted to take.
He later confirmed on May 3 that his last day would be "two weeks today," adding: "It still feels a little surreal but @sallynugenttv has promised to bake me a goodbye tart Thank you for all the kind comments. You’re all lovely.”
Here's a look at five of Dan Walker's most cringeworthy moments on the red sofa.
Awkward moment with Sally Nugent
Most recently, there was an awkward moment between Dan and Sally while discussing changes to the divorce laws.
Speaking of the law tweak, which saw the end of the blame game for separating couples in England and Wales, Sally couldn't help bring up Dan's impending exit, joking: "I like the idea of an amicable divorce, Dan."
This resulted in a weird pause, after which he replied "awkward", before adding: "I'm still here for a few weeks, don't worry."
Ignored by co-star John Watson
In another awkward moment, Dan ended up being ignored by co-star John Watson during an edition of the show in Edinburgh.
John was testing out curling in honour of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, and after the demo Dan said: "I can't believe it John, you lack power there John. I thought you had it in you..."
Sally Nugent then chipped in, saying: "Shall we just stay on this segment so we can see John get up off the floor? See how that goes?"
John told the viewers at home: "If Michael says it's a strong start then I'm happy with that. There you go. I stayed in one piece, at least."
Later, Dan asked John if he could get up or whether he was stuck on the ice. However, there was no response, ending the segment with an awkward moment.
Raunchy moment with world-class bodybuilder
An episode of BBC Breakfast got a bit raunchy after Dan Walker encouraged a world-class bodybuilder, Mr Olympia - real name James "Flex" Lewis - to take off his shirt to feel his muscles.
When James complied and whipped off his shirt, Dan and Louise encouraged him to also to remove his grey top, with Dan joking: "I'm interested to see what goes on underneath there."
After then Welshmen obliged and showed off his rock-hard abs and rippling muscles, an impressed Dan added: "We're similar in many ways, James."
To make things even more awkward, he then reached into the Olympian's lap to pick up the tiny microphone that had fallen from the shirt, before handing it to him.
Accidental comment on Nina Warhurst's weight
Dan Walker got caught up in quite an awkward moment with co-host Nina Warhurst, when discussing Christmas Royal Mail updates.
Reporter Ben Boulous told the pair: "Nina and Dan, I thought what better way than to wrap a little Christmas parcel from me to you. I had a look around my flat and I found a little box of chocolates and I've lovingly wrapped it. I say a box of chocolate, it's literally the box, the chocolates have been consumed already, but it's Christmas it's the thought that counts, right?"
When Nina replied that she'd around to collect the empty box, Walker made a sly but unintentional dig at his co-host's weight.
He said: "It keeps the weight down as well knowing there's not any chocolate in it," before panicking and adding: "No, not your weight!"
He then continued: "Get out, get out while you can. It's time now for the news, travel and the weather while I apologise profusely to Nina," though Nina simply laughed and brushed off the situation.
Getting giggly during an interview
Dan Walker ended up getting quite giggly on a somewhat awkward interview with the Minister of State for Social Care, Helen Whately.
When Whately avoided a question about whether she'd be wearing a mask on public transport after July 19 2021, Dan followed up: I’m asking you about your personal view, the government are going to say, ‘This is about personal responsibility' so personally… what would you do?"
She replied “Personally I will do what our guidance is."
Finding the situation - and her answer - amusing, a giggly Dan said: "I’m sorry I know this is a difficult area, but the guidance would appear to be, ‘Do what you choose,’ so what would you choose to do?.
Adding: "I know we speak to ministers in government most days on this programme but sometimes, I think our viewers would appreciate, sometimes having a straightforward answer to a straightforward question."
