Dan Walker reveals how Strictly kick-started weight loss, cycling and a love of fake tan

He might have lost a few pounds training for Strictly - but Dan Walker is feeling the benefits since he left the show.

It's all about Strictly Come Cycling for the ex- BBC Breakfast host.

He is reaping the rewards since he stopped setting his alarm for 3am, after heading over to 5 News.

"It's an eco thing," he says. "I've worked in London and taxies are a nightmare and I started to get around on the bike.

"I can go from Downing Street to St Pancras in about 15 minutes, and it's about 30 minutes in a taxi so although I feel like a bit of a geek sometimes, I'm very much enjoying it."

But he said his festive feasts are hindering his weight loss.

"My trousers don’t feel loose. My mince pies are probably offsetting the use of a bike," he says.

But as he admits, he looks better for it, adding: "Maybe it’s because of the bike," he shrugged at the Television and Radio Industries Club awards today (December 6).

And he was definitely glowing, although he reveals: "I fake tanned during Strictly - I've decided to embrace it and just kept at it."
