Dan Walker didn't waste his opportunity to mock his rival Piers Morgan as he made an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Monday (June 6). The presenter headed for an interview on his former TV rival after leaving BBC Breakfast last month.
His appearance on the ITV news programme to chat to Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley comes ahead of starting his new role on Channel 5 today (Monday). Dan is the new host of Channel 5's revamped 5 News as he replaces Sian Williams. He was first seen alongside new co-presenter Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije last week in a first-look at his new role. exit.
Ahead of his GMB appearance, he tweeted: “First day of my new TV life tomorrow and it will start in a very strange way… on @GMB. See you in the morning with @susannareid100 (thankfully not too early) and than at 5, on 5. PS I still love you @sallynugent."

Dan's interview the hosts started by the 45-year-old claiming Piers, 56, once paid for paparazzi to turn up at their charity golf game to take pictures of them together. He was then asked about his decision to leave BBC Breakfast, sharing the best and worst things about being a early morning TV presenter.
Richard remarked: "My wife and I did a similar thing. We jumped ship from This Morning and went to Five O’Clock on Channel 4. I’ve got to tell you, you get your life back."
"That’s what I’m looking forward to," Dan replied. "You know what it’s like when you change any job, I’m still adjusting to normal hours I’m still getting up in the middle of the night occasionally." Susanna then joked: "Your alarm clock went off this morning at three and you thought, 'I can’t go back into BBC Breakfast so I’ll just pop into Good Morning Britain.'"
As Richard wished the former BBC Breakfast presenter “good luck”, Dan made a final jibe at Piers by getting up from behind his desk and made beeline for the studio door. He joked: "Right, I’m going to do what they normally do on this programme and walk off."
As he went on the move, Susanna jumped in to say: "I’d just like to point out only one person has ever done that but it is a stage that has been set for you." But Dan carried on and said: "See you later," as he opened the studio door and walked away. “See you at five o’clock on Channel 5," he added getting in one last plug.
Prior to his faux walk-out, Susanna, 51, had asked Dan: "Would you have come on this show when the former host was on?" After trying to get out of a response, he eventually said: "Of course I would. You know what he’s like. He’s a troublemaker. But he’s good to spend time with."
But GMB viewers quickly spotted a problem with Dan's appearance. @Chrisy_Saunders tweeted: "They just literally gave Dan two minutes - bet he’s glad he got up early for that! #GMB." @Rise_and_grind7 said: "Shortest interview ever #gmb."
