Dan Crowley hoping to add goals and assists as he rejects offers to join Notts County

Midfielder Dan Crowley is hoping that he will be able to add more goals and assists to his game playing for Luke Williams’ expansive Notts County team next season. The 25-year-old joined the Magpies on a two-year deal, after a short but impressive spell in League One with Morecambe last term.

Crowley was convinced by the project at County and was sold the dream by Williams in their initial conversations, rejecting offers from higher up to move to Meadow Lane. The player has his heart set on a move to Notts once the contact was made and the positive trajectory of the club after a dramatic promotion from the National League was a big pulling factor.

He said: “There was interest from other clubs but when I first met the gaffer and heard him speak about Notts County as a football club and how he wants to play. Just seeing from afar where the club was going, I just wanted to be a part of that.

“It is a club that is massively on the up and I knew that I couldn’t miss out on that. I was on the phone with my agent all the time making sure the deal was done. How the gaffer wants to play football and how he sees me fitting into that made sense to me.”

Crowley will be joining a strong midfield group with the likes of John Bostock, Jim O’Brien and Matt Palmer looking to pick up where they left off as a trio from last season. The void left by Ruben Rodrigues’ departure will be filled by Crowley who looks forward to increasing his output of goals and assists in an attacking team.

He added: “They’re three really great players, I know John Bostock quite well and he is a great lad as well as a top player but I’m just looking forward to getting in the team and playing alongside those guys.

“Just seeing the players we have, how many goals they score and assists they get is just amazing and something I would add to my game and improve on. Seeing what this team produced last season makes me confident I can do that.

“I like to get on the ball, on the half turn and create chances which keep the team ticking. I want to push forward as a midfielder and I’m certainly more of the attacking type in that situation.”
