Dan Biggar appears on live TV show in France and nails it in perfect French

Wales fly-half Dan Biggar has once again demonstrated how quickly he's picked up French since moving to Toulon.

Biggar, who was named in Warren Gatland's 54-man World Cup training squad earlier this week, has quickly picked up the language since moving to the south of France from Northampton at the start of November.

He's already shown his linguistic skills with a speech to the Toulon fans when being unveiled by the club and the odd interview, but a 30-minute chat on an in-house TV show with the club truly demonstrates just how far Biggar has come in a matter of months.

Speaking on a live stream on Toulon's official Twitch channel, Biggar conversed in fluent French with the two presenters - speaking about his time at the French club, while also confirming that he'll be sticking around with Toulon until the end of the season for their push for silverware before linking up with Gatland's Wales camp.

Biggar recently revealed how he was using the same French teacher that former England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson used while in France.

Wilkinson was regularly commended for his French, having given team talks in the language during his time with Toulon. It would seem Biggar is on the same path.

“I’ve actually got the same guy who taught Jonny Wilkinson,” Biggar told RugbyPass recently. “I’m hoping my French will be somewhere near his in a year or so’s time.”

His coaches in France have been impressed with Biggar's efforts to learn the language.

“We saw the effect Dan had on Northampton when he went there from Ospreys – he’s a leader on and off the pitch and he leads by example,” said Toulon defence coach James Coughlan in the same RugbyPass piece.

“For the foreigners who have been here for a while and who are maybe struggling with their French, to see somebody like Dan come in and make such an effort with the language, it’s greatly appreciated. That speaks of the type of guy he is and the influence he has."
