Emergency crews are bracing for heavy rain in South Australia's north as a private dam remains at risk of failure in the Adelaide Hills.
The State Emergency Service was on Monday night continuing to monitor dams at Hope Forest and Basket Range, after risk abated of the latter dam failing.
Engineers determined the dam's structural integrity had improved.
A watch and act warning remained in place for the Hope Forest dam, with some road closures in place for residents.
Nearby homes could be flooded if the dam fails, after continual rain in the past days raised its risk profile.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a flood watch for the northwest and northeast pastoral districts, along with the Flinders district.
The State Emergency Service remained on high alert on Monday night, with rainfall totals of between 10 and 30 millimetres expected.
Higher totals of between 30 and 70mm were also possible in north-central parts of the pastoral districts.
The emergency service warned residents in the areas of Coober Pedy, Ernabella, Ceduna, Nullarbor, Tarcoola, Todmorden and Oodnadatta to expect road closures.
As of Monday night, the State Emergency Service had fielded more than 515 calls for help since Thursday.
State deputy officer Molly Gifford urged South Australians to plan their journeys and stay abreast of road closures.
She reiterated it was never safe to drive through floodwaters.
There were no weather warnings in place for Adelaide or the hills on Monday, although showers were forecast to continue for most of the week.
The bureau earlier said flooding could affect roads and transport, possibly cutting off some communities.
