Dalvin Cook has named "perfect fit" after multiple offers from NFL teams

Running back Dalvin Cook remains a free agent, but the 27-year-old is lining up his next move after receiving 'multiple offers' from teams around the NFL.

Cook was released by the Minnesota Vikings earlier in June, with the franchise set to promote Alexander Mattison as their starter and save in cap space. Cook is still a desired running back, and according to NFL Network around half a dozen teams have expressed interest.

The New York Jets, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins are all possible landing spots, and Cook is expecting a 'significant contract'. However, Cook's already made it clear that the Dolphins are a team he admires having declared they would be a "perfect fit".

The Dolphins have a stacked roster for next season, with the acquisition of Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams potentially the difference when it comes to their Super Bowl ambitions. They'll want quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to avoid injury next season, and hope that Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle can produce their magic again.

In the running back positions remain a pair of veteran backs in Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. They may be productive for the Dolphins, but Cook feels as though he could transform that area of the field and stretch the team.

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Cook said: "It's an exciting situation to go into. You got guys that can stretch the field on the outside, I think that defense is pretty solid to me, Tua [Tagovailoa] when he's out on the field, they got a winning record.

"As a running back, you look for a certain scheme, and I know the scheme I'm good in, and that's outside zone, and that's what the Miami Dolphins runs. It'd be a perfect fit, and the roster speaks for itself."

Cook had 1,173 rushing yards last season and ran for eight touchdowns as the Vikings made the Wild Card of the playoffs before they were eliminated by the New York Giants. Cook also scored two receiving touchdowns as he completed 39 receptions across the 2022 campaign.

His versatility will excite head coach Mike McDaniel, although he was very dismissive when being asked about Cook in a press conference. McDaniel shut down reporters and claimed he was "not born yesterday" as he took offence to their questions.

"March 6, 1983, the day I was born, right? Now we take a closer look at that date and that in fact was not yesterday," McDaniel said. "Okay, so people that are rumoured to be tall, short, people that are rumoured to be, you’re not going to get this guy. I’m Year Two. Okay?

"What I am excited about is talking about the most important thing which is the third day of veteran minicamp and we’ve got a lot of guys that are good players that have an opportunity to get better. Answer your question?"
