Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott told he's 'threatened' by back-up quarterback Cooper Rush

The Dallas Cowboys may have a decision on their hands ahead of their prime-time game with division rivals and undefeated Philadelphia Eagles this upcoming Sunday.

During week one's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting quarterback and team captain Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury on his throwing hand and had to leave the game. This would rule him out for the next five games, with the Cowboys being forced to start perennial back-up Cooper Rush. It's fair to say little was expected from Rush, but he has blown away all expectations and has lead the Cowboys to five straight wins.

The undrafted former Central Michigan quarterback Rush has been a back-up with the Cowboys since 2017, having been behind Prescott throughout. In 2020, Prescott missed 12 games of the season after breaking his ankle, however, the Cowboys chose to start now New Orleans Saints quarterback Andy Dalton over Rush.

But after these five straight wins, Rush has proven to be a highly-functionable quarterback for the Cowboys, with the offense arguably looking better under him than Prescott. Now though, Prescott is said to be ready to return to the starting line-up this Sunday, with Dallas likely to turn to him.

And UNDISPUTED host Skip Bayless believes that Prescott feels threatened by Rush. Noted Cowboys fan Bayless said that he wasn't happy to hear Prescott take a shot at Rush after yesterday's win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Bayless said: "I have a ton of a problem with what Dak Prescott said - he took a shot at Cooper Rush, unwarranted though predictable. I am going to repeat what he said, 'Obviously we know what we can do - when we're healthy - in the pass game'. What he's saying is when he gets back that they are going to take it up a bunch.

"Big picture here, I believe Dak Prescott is somewhat threatened by Micah Parsons as the face of the franchise because he is becoming a big thing.

"I believe Dak is becoming extremely threatened by Cooper Rush. Rush didn't keep his seat warm, he made it a hot seat for Dak Prescott. Dak was front and centre throughout last night's game, he spoke more before and after the game than Cooper Rush spoke. Dak wants everyone to know that he's ready to go. He wants to remind everybody its his team and its his time.

"Cooper doesn't have Dak's ego, all I know about Cooper Rush is whenever he's called upon, he makes it happen. It's beneath Dak to do this but he has been pushed by Cooper Rush after he's gone 5-0."
