It was another season of missed opportunities for the Dallas Cowboys, and they'll be looking to get things right ahead of the next campaign.
After easing past Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his final NFL game, the Cowboys suffered a disappointing loss against the San Francisco 49ers the following week to end their season. Injury to Tony Pollard weakened their offense, and they're set to target more running-back options before the start of the 2023 season.
The Cowboys have some of the best talent across the league on both their defensive and offensive line, but could use a boost to really bolster their Super Bowl dreams. Here, Mirror NFL bring you the latest round-up of Cowboys news, with trades in full flow.
Odell Beckham Jr. talks to continue
The Cowboys met with Odell Beckham Jr. last season, but both parties couldn't come to an agreement over a deal for the free agent. Beckham Jr left the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the 2021 season, and didn't play a single game the following campaign.
Interest in Beckham Jr has been high, and owner Jerry Jones has teased that the Cowboys could bring him in if he can stay fit. Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger believes the Cowboys will finally land Beckham Jr this off-season, ending months of speculation.
"The Dallas Cowboys make a lot of sense as a landing spot — just ask Micah Parsons — with CeeDee Lamb likely not signing his extension until the 2024 offseason," Spielberger wrote. "In the meantime, Dallas can have two mid-tier wide receiver contracts with Michael Gallup and Beckham Jr.
"The Cowboys have to regret recouping just a fifth-round pick for Amari Cooper — and every other team that didn’t beat that price should, as well. But with Beckham they don’t have to break the bank on a game-changing wide receiver when healthy."

Cowboys monitoring Kareem Hunt
It wasn't a great season for Kareem Hunt or the Cleveland Browns, but that doesn't mean he won't be in demand as he enters free agency this off-season. There are still concerns over Ezekiel Elliott's capabilities moving forward, and Pollard is even tipped as the new starting running-back next season.
The injury to Pollard in their final play-off game cost them, and the Cowboys will be heavily in the market for a new running-back. On the official Cowboys website, writer Patrik Walker discussed how Hunt could be an option, despite having some controversies off the field.
"Yep, you’re reading my mind if you see this name and immediately think to yourself, ‘… but those off-the-field issues'," Walker wrote. "I agree, wholeheartedly.
"But we also can agree that the Cowboys aren’t risk-adverse to such a thing if they deem the reward might outweigh it convincingly. It’s in that spirit that I feel I have to put Hunt on this list of options because, from the standpoint of production, he can most definitely get the job done between the lines."
Terence Steele expected to return
While the Cowboys may be looking at options elsewhere, they still have to decide who they wish to retain as players enter free agency. Terence Steele proved his worth as he was handed a starting spot at right tackle, but an injury in December ended his season.
He's headed for free agency, but it's thoughr that he will return to the Cowboys. Due to him being a restricted free agent, they have the right to match any outside offer, and Steele is thought to be happy in Dallas.
This may change if the Cowboys can secure draft compensation in return, but if not, they'll want to keep hold of him. Steele joined the Cowboys as an undrafted player in 2020, and has impressed in recent years.
