Dalkey Book Festival is returning this June - and the lineup will feature some world-famous names.
The festival, which will be between June 15 and June 18. It will bring together writers from Turkey, America, Syria, Brazil, Iran, England, Russia, France, Germany, Albania, Taiwan, China, Italy, France, and, of course, Ireland, in a spectacularly varied programme of 78 events. Some of the better known names are Brian Cox, Roddy Collins, comedian Dylan Moran, Roddy Doyle, and U2 guitarist The Edge.
Leading figures in from the worlds of literature, history, politics, journalism, comedy and science, will be participating in the festival. Here's a list of the highlights.

Literature
Book readers can meet Richard Ford, Sebastian Barry, Paul Murray, Roddy Doyle, Elaine Feeney, Jan Carson, Joseph O’Connor, Liz Nugent, John Banville, Audrey Magee, Donal Ryan, Merve Emre, John Connolly, Victoria Kennefick, Nicole Flattery, Sarah Gilmartin, Alice Ryan – and more.
Science
The Edge will be chatting with Brian Cox about particle physics, dark matter, and guitar riffs.
Politics and world affairs
Russian expert and exile, Masha Gessen, will be in conversation with Dylan Moran. Masha Gessen is a staff writer at The New Yorker, leading LGBT rights activist and author of bestseller The Man Without a Face, a book about the world’s most dangerous mind - Vladimir Putin.
David Brooks of The New York Times, widely regarded as one of the most influential commentators in the US, will be chatting about how to solve "the fragmentation and hostility" so prevalent in society.
Meanwhile, Jeff Goldberg, editor of America’s prestigious magazine The Atlantic, will discuss the state of America and predict political and cultural trends.
Comedy
Dylan Moran will perform the Irish premiere of his show We Got This, while Climate Worrier Colm O’Regan does his bit. Deirdre O’Kane is ‘Demented’ while Paul Howard’s Ross O’Carroll-Kelly returns home to discuss the great events shaping the world, such as the new LIDL proposed for Dalkey village.
Sport
Roddy Collins, the funniest man in football, comes to CUALA to talk about the beautiful game with Paul Howard.
History
With all the war happening in the world today, we look at what can we learn from history with talks from Peter Frankopan, Roy Foster, and Donal Fallon, as well as author Naoise MacSweeney.
Psychology
Dan Ariely, the world’s leading – and funniest- behavioural economist, will be making an appearance while Ruby Wax will be in conversation with the brilliant Ian Robertson.
Podcasts
Donal Fallon and David McWilliams do their thing LIVE.
Economics
With Linda Yueh, Carolina Alves and David McWilliams.
Writing workshops
Jan Carson will be hosting an adult writing workshop, while Sarah Webb will be doing one for children.
Family
