Dakota Johnson’s Retro Poolside Seating Is Dominating 2026 Summer Trends – Her Lap Pool Area is a Mid-Century Paradise

Dakota Johnson.

What is better than a living room? An outdoor living room. Dakota Johnson demonstrates exactly how to master the look with white mesh outdoor furniture positioned beside her stunning lap pool.

As we move into the warmth of spring 2026, the actress is seen lounging in a pair of curved Salterini Radar chairs (available at 1stDibs) with a matching table between them. This setup provides her tree-house-like backyard with a stylish mid-century modern aesthetic that feels perfectly suited for upcoming garden parties. And, while we can't all sadly have the original, this set from Amazon is a close match to Dakota's.

Design experts confirm that this style is dominating outdoor furniture trends for 2026. 'Curved furniture has become very popular in interiors, and we’re now seeing this trend influence outdoor living as curved garden furniture is in demand,' explains design expert Shelley Cochrane.

Alongside the rounded silhouettes, the iron mesh fabrication enhances the mid-century modern atmosphere currently in high demand. These curved forms feel relaxed and informal, aligning with the seasonal desire to create outdoor sanctuaries that serve as calm, cozy, and personal extensions of the home.

The popularity of curved patio furniture often stems from how the shape mimics the environment. Lena Gierasinska, a design expert at Barker and Stonehouse, believes this trend resonates in 2026 because it 'echoes the natural flow and rhythm of the natural world.'

She notes that 'Curved furniture softens spaces and creates a more harmonious relationship between man-made objects and their environment. Nature rarely deals in straight lines – think of the sweep of a hillside, the bend of a tree branch, or the meander of a garden path. Curved furniture mirrors these organic forms, helping pieces to blend more seamlessly into their surroundings.'

As the days grow longer and we head toward summer, these curved furnishings also encourage socialization.

Lena tells Homes & Gardens: 'Not only do curves evoke a sense of calm and comfort, but they also invite movement and conversation, making garden spaces feel more welcoming and less rigid. It's a subtle yet powerful design choice that connects us more closely to the natural world.'

The right furniture can transform a simple backyard into a refreshing at–home oasis, and Dakota’s choice of wire mesh serves as the perfect inspiration for a modern update.
