Daizen Maeda has vowed his will get revenge at the World Cup in four years time, but is thanking Celtic for getting him to Qatar.
The energetic Japanese forward suffered heartbreak on Monday as the Samurai Blue ended their memorable campaign with defeat on penalties to Croatia and fellow Celtic teammate Josip Juranovic. Maeda opened the scoring inside the first half, scoring his first World Cup goal and netting only his second strike for his country.
The former J-League man was visibly emotional at full time as his side were sent home from the tournament, being consoled by Juranovic in a touch embrace caught by the cameras post-match. And the 25-year-old is promising he will feature at the next World Cup in North America and thanked Celtic fans for their continued support.
