Daizen Maeda details training 'adjustment' to remain fit for Celtic and Japan amid knee injury issue

Daizen Maeda has switched up his training routine in order to be fit for Celtic and Japan.

The Hoops attacker - who has become a real key player under Ange Postecoglou - is carrying a knee injury into the international break as he bids to be ready for both club and country. He comes up against Uruguary and Colombia during the international break in the first two fixtures back on the international scene since the World Cup.

Earlier this month the Celtic speedster was forced off in a midweek Premiership win over Hearts before being left out of the Scottish Cup clash between the duo just days later. However, he returned to the fold for the final league outing before the international break with Hibs, getting an hour under his belt.

It is being reported in his homeland that Maeda is carrying a knock in his left knee and has adjusted his training accordingly to make sure he is ready for international duty and the season run-in for Celtic.

Speaking to Hochi, he said: "I have adjusted for about an hour by cycling and jogging before training. I'm going to make adjustments so that I can make it in time for games."

Postecoglou and Co have some big games on the horizon following the international break. Four games remain until the league split with an Old Firm showdown with Rangers in that run.

A Scottish Cup semi-final between the pair takes place at Hampden at the end of April while they will battle it out once again in the top six with fixture details to be released shortly after the final places after 33 games is determined.
