Daisy May Cooper's lockdown pregnancy 'shone light' on marriage difficulties before split

Daisy May Cooper has revealed that her lockdown pregnancy shone a light on her marriage difficulties with husband Will Weston before their split.

The BAFTA-winning comedian, 36, tied the knot with Will in 2019, but the pair split just two years later in July 2021, after Daisy admitted that they both felt 'pressured' to settle down and tie the knot.

The This Country creator admitted that there was 'no real love' in her marriage to Will, despite the pair welcoming two children together - Jack, 2, and Pip, 4.

Daisy is still close friends with her ex-husband, regularly describing him as 'amazing' and 'incredible' in interviews. However, the talented writer and comedian has admitted that her lockdown pregnancy shone a light on her and Will's marital issues.

The Covid pandemic put a strain on millions of relationships across the globe, with couples either 'making it' or breaking-up during the unprecedented times.

Unfortunately for Daisy and Will, the pandemic proved to them that their love 'wasn't real' as the comedian realised quickly that she wanted to be by herself.

Lifting the lid on her marriage breakdown, Daisy told The Times: "Will is amazing, an incredible, incredible dad - but fundamentally, there wasn't real love there, I don't think there ever was, really."

While Will wanted to go out and meet friends once restrictions had lifted, Daisy wanted to be by herself amid thoughts of feeling 'trapped' in her marriage.

Daisy soon realised that 'life is too short' not to be happy, so after the birth of her second child Jack, she decided to move out of the home which she had shared with Will and embark on a new journey.

The comedian is now enjoying dating again following a five-month romance with Ryan Weymouth, but the mum-of-two is simply having fun and not taking things too seriously due to the fact she knows that she doesn't want to live with a man again anytime soon.

Will was Daisy’s long-term partner – with the pair swapping vows at a ceremony in The Cotswolds in September 2019.

The couple lived together in Fairford, Gloucestershire, with their young family.
