MUMBAI: Daily Covid cases and fatalities in the state dropped to 2,068 and 15 (from 40 on Thursday), respectively, on Friday. The daily tally in the city plunged by around 20% to 202, however Mumbai broke its three-day streak of zero fatalities and recorded the death of a senior citizen on Friday.
In a clear indication that the city is well past the third wave peak, wards such as G North (Dadar) and B saw no cases on Friday. Ward B (Dongri) has been recording zero cases for the past three days now. G North ward, which includes Dharavi, was without a single new case in a day for the first time in the third wave on Friday.
Ward B medical officer Dr Sandeep Gaikwad said: “Testing is being carried out to ensure there is no new spread by an asymptomatic carrier.” He added that the ward had zero cases for four days between February 7 and 10.
