The former Wales prop returned to the club in 2021 after a nine-year stint at Wasps. He had previously been in charge at Cardiff between 2003 and 2011 helping them lift the European Challenge Cup in 2010.
The playing group were told Young would be absent from training today, and tomorrow's Welsh derby against the Ospreys on Judgement Day due to unforeseen circumstances, but were not told when or if he would be returning.
There are many people at the club who are unhappy with Young, and the Arms Park hierarchy have deemed it fit to suspend the 55-year-old after receiving several complaints.
WalesOnline has learnt there was a board meeting last night where a decision was made, and Young was informed of their decision shortly after.
Cardiff are yet to comment.
