A dad who killed his eight-year-old son after crashing his BMW into a lorry was 13 times the drug-driving limit. Leon Clark had just collected his two sons from their grandparent's house when he "lost control" of the car on the motorway and crashed into a highway maintenance truck parked on the hard shoulder.
His eldest son, Blake Consterdine, was rushed to hospital but tragically died of his injuries following the horror collision on the M60 near Audenshaw, on February 28, 2020. The 40-year-old parent was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting causing death by careless driving whilst over the drug driving limit at Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday (October 10).
He also pleaded guilty to causing death by driving while uninsured. Rob Kitching, prosecuting, told the court that Clark had collected Blake and his six-year-old brother from their grandparents' home in Middleton at roughly 1.40pm. Blake was sitting in the back seat of the BMW 3, while his younger sibling was in the front passenger seat, Manchester Evening News reports.
