Dad of missing Scots hiker Finn Creaney scales mountains to find son 14 months on

The father of a missing hiker Finn Creaney continues to tirelessly search the Highlands area where his son mysteriously vanished almost 14 months ago. Worried dad Mark Creaney has issued a fresh plea for help to find his son who was last seen at Loch Naver in Sutherland on March 25 last year.

Finn, then aged 32, from Tain, had planned to walk round the loch before heading south towards Golspie but disappeared without a trace. Countless searches involving specialist mountain rescue crews, a police helicopter as well as Finn’s loved ones have taken place since but no sign of the young dad has been found.

Dad Mark said he is making the most of the improving weather as he continues to try to solve the mystery of what happened to his child. In a video update, the 56-year-old said: “It’s now 14 months almost since Finn went missing and we’re still up here, we’re still searching and we’re still being positive.

“We're trying to find an answer as to why we haven’t come across him yet and where he could possibly be. The mind blowing mystery of where Finn is needs an answer which is why we’re up here looking for it. We’re covering as much ground as we can.

“The weather is getting a lot better. It’s still wet under foot and rain still comes in but we’ve got a lot more light and a lot more time to search. We’re using our time as best we can and pushing through as much as we can whilst we intensely search the area.”

The anguished dad has vowed to keep searching for as long as it takes to ‘bring our boy home’ while also thanking members of the public for their support. He added: “Everybody who supports us just keeps us afloat a wee bit longer and keeps us focused on our goal which is bringing our boy home.

“I’d like to thank everyone that has helped us and supported us. Everybody who has sent us messages, people who have looked (for Finn) or who have given us ideas or who are maybe planning a holiday up here and wanting to know if they can help.

“We really appreciate all that and to everybody who has dropped money into the GoFundMe. “I know it's been such a long time since Finn went missing and to see that folk still do that every now and again, it’s really heartwarming and we really appreciate it. It makes all the difference.”

Finn, a father-of-two, whose son was born two months after he went missing, is described as being 5ft 11in tall, of a slim build with a light complexion and freckles on his arms and nose.

He has long brown hair down to his lower back and a full brown beard which was short in length when he was last seen.

Anyone who may have seen Finn is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any officer quoting reference 0912 of 28 March, 2022.
